Community Outreach and Parental Involvement

Rachel Carson I.S. 237 Magnet School for the Arts is 100% committed
to strengthening and serving the community through partnerships,
outreach programs, and its Family Evening Center. The school offers
numerous family literacy programs, adult ELL classes, computer courses, and family arts workshops.

In order to maintain a strong connection to the community, Rachel Carson I.S. 237 Magnet School for the Arts has also created partnerships with the following community based organizations:

• Rachel Carson Community  Assoc.
• Queens Community College
• St. John’s University

In addition, the school encourages parental involvement through monthly PTA meetings, a School Leadership Team composed of parents, teachers, and administrators, monthly newsletters, parent workshops, and our school website:

COMPUTER CLASS FOR PARENTS 2009

The Rachel Carson Evening Center offers a Computer Class for Adults. Monday and Wednesday, 6:30pm to 9:30pm. Parents interested in learning Microsoft Office and research using the Internet. Space is limited. Stop by the evening center to sign up or call Mrs. Bryant at I.S. 237

ESL CLASS FOR PARENTS 2009

This class is designed to help the new immigrate or parents with limited English to move to level 1 or 2. Space is limited.
